Holy smoke!
What would you do if you are in an appartment on 18th floor and the hallway is full of smoke? Stay in the appartment and hope for rescue to come…
That’s what I did this afternoon.
My saturday starts quite awful. Recovering from the low sugar level (from yesterday’s fasting) and cleaning the house.
By 4 pm I’m ready to go out for groceries at the market (it closes at 5pm). As I was getting ready at the entree of my appartment, I smell smoke. The smell is so strong like someone just did open burning. I checked inside the kitchen, nothing, in the rooms, nothing. Only when I’m at entree…
I opened the door and whoaa.. smoke!! I switched on the hallway light and can’t see anything..
At least I saw some of my neighbours… I knew that it couldn’t be at our aisle. Anyway.. I closed the door and called Syl at cc.
I started open all the windows and wet a towel to put under the front door and small towel for myself. Few minutes later, a fireman came to the door (with oxygen for him only tho) and asked if I have smoke in the house. I said mmm yes.. (now that I had the door open)..
He told me to stay and keep all windows open.
I thought that I’d need to evacuate soon.. so what to bring??? I pack my bag (which has my passport and ID.. hmm whatelse?)
But then I waited and waited, there is no fireman came to evacuate me. So I waited.. Syl is already downstairs and told that he saw some of our neighbours… I waited again.. then a fireman came said that my husband was looking for me. He said it’s OK to stay and keep the door open.
I kept the door and windows open.. and I waited and waited..
An hour passed.. hmmm what to do what to do… My nose is kinda “itchy” and as I put tissue in my nose, it came out black! huhuhuhu
Then Syl told me (via msn) that the lift is ok, and I can comeout.
Still not sure, Syl came home to pick me up hehehehe… To stuck at my home is OK. But I don’t think I want to stuck in a smoke filled lift!! Finally I came out from the building.. I had to wash my nose (nostrils), as it was so black when I wiped with tissue.. isk isk
Now (6 hours after) the hallway is still smell of smoke and in the living room, I can still smell a hint of smoke. Ish ish.. what an experience!
